About PsorChat's Rob Traister

Rob on Rob, from an interview by Ed Dewke:

"I live in Front Royal, Virginia — a small town about 70 miles west of DC in the Blue Ridge Mountains.  I run a publications consulting business and do writing, editing, publication design, web site design/management, marketing, etc.  I'm single [no longer!  Rob is now married. -Ed] and am addicted to all forms of outdoor activity: hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, rollerblading, etc.

"My P first came on noticeably after a bout of mono and strep when I was 21.  It's the good old-fashioned plaque variety and the first eight years I had it, I had coverage of about 40%, with the worst being about 60%.

"For the past few years it's been more controlled and my coverage is below 20%.  I made significant lifestyle changes: stopped smoking, started exercising, and got into therapy to deal with my negative self-image.

"I treat my P with light therapy, exercise, and a topical rotation of Dovonex, Olux and Luxiq.  I take vitamin E when I can remember to.

"I use my P as an excuse to spend a lot of time reading in the tub.  Above all, I try not to stress about it.  I wear short sleeves and shorts in warm weather and if people stare I try to educate them.  Or really scare them, if they're rude.  Ever hear of Anthrax?"   [August, 2003]
