Q&A (as of 10/12/2005)
Q: Why is
Biogen Idec selling AMEVIVE?
A: The decision to sell AMEVIVE was part of the company’s strategic
business plan. However,
Biogen Idec employees still have a firm commitment to patients who are
using and benefiting from the product and are actively seeking an
appropriate new home for AMEVIVE.
Q: Are you looking for a buyer?
A: Yes. The company is actively seeking a buyer, and would consider
buyers that have existing dermatology products, expertise and
sales/marketing infrastructure, or those that are willing and prepared to
support the creation of such an infrastructure.
Q: Will this transition affect my ability to obtain the product?
A: No. Biogen Idec is prepared to offer to manufacture AMEVIVE for the
new owner. This will allow any purchaser to provide a proven supply of
product.
Q: Isn’t Biogen Idec closing its North Carolina plant?
A: No. Production is continuing as usual at the plant which manufactures
AMEVIVE.
Q: What about customer service? Will the hotline and other patient
support groups still be up and running?
A: Normal sales, customer service and
medical support will continue. It is the company’s goal to ensure that
physicians and patients are not affected during this period.
Q: Should my
doctor pre-order product, and if so, how long will it last?
A: Pre-ordering is not necessary. Product supply and availability is at
no risk.
Q: What
about ongoing clinical trials and possible therapeutic expansions?
A: Biogen Idec will continue to fund clinical studies in progress.
Q: I’d like to learn more about AMEVIVE. Where’s the best
place to go?
A: Check out the patient section on our website athttp://www.amevive.com
