Worried
About Enbrel and Ed’s Cancer Hi. I have ankylosing spondylitis and I am considering to start with Enbrel. I read your article Me, My Enbrel, My Cancer: 91 days of coincidence and now I am beginning to wonder if Enbrel really is a good idea. Do you think Enbrel might have caused your cancer? Thank you very much. -Johann ***** Ed’s Response: Hi Johann. No, I don't think Enbrel caused my cancer. All doctors agree the testicular seminoma could not have caught hold and grown so significantly in the 20+ days I was on Enbrel prior to noticing my problem. It had to have started earlier and taken much longer to grow. I've heard from hundreds of people taking Enbrel and really think my lack of results is the exception, not the rule. Of all the biologic drugs available now for flakers, Enbrel has the longest clinical history and, therefore, the most significant safety profile. Frankly, I wish Enbrel had worked for me. But I'm grateful for the year of clear skin I enjoyed on Raptiva, and the maintenance of nearly clear skin and control of psoriatic arthritis I'm now enjoying on Humira. You have better than an 80% chance of being a person who responds well to Enbrel. Don't let my experience inhibit you from trying! -Edwww.flakehq.com |
