| Pregnancy Thwarted Flakingfor Awhile from Katie L. I don't know if this will ring a bell with anyone else out there. I have had P for about 3 years. It started out on my elbows and then rapidly spread to cover about two-thirds of my body. But then something happenedI got pregnant. As soon as I got pregnant it went away. All of it. I know this doesn't help the guys with P. The only down side is that as soon as I gave birth it was back in a week or two. The only thing I can come up with is there must be a hormone that helps some types of P. If doctors could just figure out what one it is we might be able to treat it successfully. -Katie L ***** Eds Response: Your experience rings bells all over the place, Katie (see link at end). Dr. Lowe remarks on the phenomenon of female P improving during pregnancy in the Q&A section of his book, Psoriasis: A Patients Guide. Ive also known NPF to acknowledge it (though cant put my finger on a specific reference right this moment). Funny thing is, I dont know if anybody has done any research to associate anything specific about pregnant physiology (or whatever) and P. I agree with you, if theres something natural going on there that helps P, somebody should try to figure out what it is! If anybody knows about research past, present or future, into why pregnancy improves flaking for so many womenand what might be extrapolated therefrom for the common good!please email me. Thanks for pointing us to it again, Katie. -Ed Pregnancy, Caffeine & "Skintreat" www.flakehq.com |
